Employment Works Youth Initiative

High School/High Tech Program

Mission:

The mission of the Employment Works Youth Initiative is for youth who face challenges and barriers to believe, recognize and utilize their capabilities in determining their own success through meaningful employment practices.

Youth often lack experience and resources in obtaining and retaining employment. They need the opportunities to learn different skills and experience the responsibilities of a job. Throughout our program youth learn various job related skills, expand their knowledge of the workplace environment and participate in real work experiences.

Many youth today are unprepared for the responsibilities of adulthood and living on their own. Our program provides resources and tools for youth to prepare for independent living and become self advocates. The Youth Initiative will provide access to creating bank accounts, learning about benefits, and networking opportunities.

Youth who face challenges and barriers struggle to see the possibilities for a successful future. When youth are provided the opportunity to be surrounded by role models and encouraging situations they gain confidence in themselves. Our program helps youth develop leadership skills to learn about themselves, what they value and how they can translate their skills into a job that is meaningful to them.
